PLANT PV Introduces Breakthrough Solar Cell Power Output Technology

Innovator of photovoltaic materials, PLANT PV announced on the 18th that it will launch a breakthrough technology at SNEC 2017 that will enable solar cell manufacturers to fully obtain higher solar cell power output. PLANT PV's newest Silver-on-AluminumTM paste is easy to use, and battery manufacturers can increase their relative power output by 1% for crystalline silicon solar cells without requiring additional investment.

“For 20 years, the photovoltaic industry has had to face the power loss caused by direct printing of silver main grid electrodes to solar cells,” said Dr. Craig Peters, CEO of PLANT PV. “The Silver-on-AluminumTM paste we developed was In order to directly solve this problem, all conventional solar cells today will reduce unnecessary power losses."

According to a recent GTM (Greentech Media) forecast, if global production in 2017 will reach 85-GW, then at least 50 GW comes from back-field (BSF) technology, and our technology will enable today's PV module facilities to generate 500-MW more power. Without additional process or work steps. Peters added.

Silver-on-Aluminum pastes allow battery manufacturers to print paste directly onto dried aluminum films, covering the entire backside of the wafer with aluminum paste, and obtaining a beneficial passivation of the continuous aluminum back-field.

PLANT PV recently demonstrated at the Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg, Germany, the use of traditional backside pastes on polysilicon cells, achieving an absolute power increase of 0.15%. PLANT PV was born in the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This week, PLANT PV will present its Ag-on-Al slurry concept and test results at the 11th SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation Symposium in Shanghai.
