International Fragrance Company to expand production in Guangzhou

The global spice giant, IFF International, plans to invest more than US$100 million in Asia in the next three years, including a new production plant in Guangzhou, China and Singapore, where the Guangzhou plant produces flavors and the Singapore plant produces spices and flavors.

IFF currently has facilities for the production of flavours and fragrances in Guangzhou, and flavour, fragrance and additive production facilities in Singapore. IFF stated that the company will not shut down its existing production facilities. After the new production facilities are put into operation, the old facilities in Guangzhou will be renovated and only spices will be produced. The new plant will enable IFF to have sufficient capacity to meet the global demand growth in the next 7 to 10 years. IFF also owns a spice and flavour manufacturing facility in Hong Kong, China, and a spice production facility in Hangzhou.

According to the person in charge of IFF, the demand for spices and fragrances in Asia will continue to increase rapidly. In the third quarter of last year, the company’s sales revenue in the Asia Pacific region accounted for 14% of its total sales revenue.
